    Question

hey guys i need some help here?
i am thinking of supercharging(jrsc) my 94 LS. my milege is 77,000 and i want the base kit 6psi(jrsc w/fuel pump walbro). is it worth the money? if i supercharge it, is the engine reliable? (maintenances of the car is very good). my goal is to make this a street legal car with reasonable horsepower.

this car will be daily driven, street driven, minor tuning, street legal, and have no plans of increasing psi(at this time),want to keep this car reliable, this is the only car i have and i need the car for work, school, and everything else.and i do not plan on spending any more $$$ after i supercharging it(at this time).

once in a while, how about 4-5 hours drive with the supercharger kit on, will it ruin the supercharger or the engine itself?

my car now is equip with the following:
dc header, trust exhaust, b&m fuel regulator, magnacor 8.5, a/f gauges, boost gauges, k&n filter no piping, suspension, rims and all the good stuff.

    futer plans?
    jrsc w/ walbro,
aem short or cai two piece?
    do i need injectors?
    i have room for 2 gauges(either fuel pressure,vac, or j&s safeguard ultra
    what is btc?
    what is cartech fmu?
    thanks in advance!!

If your fuel system is in good shape I wouldn't worry about it. I was over 65K when I supercharged my sohc. I'd recommend a New Timing Belt when you have it installed.

Yeah do it, if you know the car is well taken care of. I had 66,000 on mine when I did it. Just don't think the car is a Porsche or anything. The extra torque is nice though.

Fourbanger: don't sweat the SC... I was in exactly the same boat as you...

Here's what I've found over the course of a year to work etc. etc...

JRSC: The install isn't super bad, but make sure whoever does it mounts the blower to the manifold carefully (the RS/LS kits sometimes have mating problems because the pulley brackets contact the blower).

Don't worry about the mileage, I put mine on at 60,000 with no problems... get your valves adjusted and use synthetic oil.

I run my 96 RS at 9psi with the Endyn stepper pulley, which is DEFINITELY worth doing right off the bat... the base 6psi kit is fun, but the car actually is quick with the 9psi pulley... think about getting it.

Jackson should have figured out by now the problems with their FMU, and I haven't had a problem with mine... the Cartech is a better FMU which has a different rise rate, basically providing more fuel that the Jackson FMU is capable off..

I don't have afterrmarket injectors and I seem to do fine with my setup... just keep your eyes on your FP Gauge and make sure the idle is adjusted properly.

BUY THE BTC. This unit retards your timing based on the vac it sees... WELL WORTH THE CASH. A necessity!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have the J&S. Can't afford it. $500 is silly!! I just am very aware of my BTC setting, and it goes up on warmer days and under load.

Iv'e driven my car from Boston to Buffalo several times with the blower, going up and down some large hills, and it runs great.

    Synthetic oil.
    BTC.
Short intake (search this board for opinions)
    GOOD GAS!!! (94 if possible)
    Huge wallet.
    Lots of paitence.

    Welcome to the darkside.

    Chuck

Oh yea I forgot, buy the GSS-317/342 fuel pump... very important. I have the 317 and wish I bought the 342, but the 317 seems to be running well. This is a must.

    Question

How much of a hp difference would you expect a d16z6 @9 psi over the 6psi setup. 10-15hp?

thanks guys for all the help. anybody else got some input on this? that would help me a lot.
96integraRS: how much is the 9psi endyn pulley? is it street legal? is this a totally different pulley from jackson racing? i have heard a lot of things about their metal pulley. if i purchased endyn 9psi pulley, i do not have to worry about the jackson metal or new plastic pulley right?

what kind of plugs is good for the rs/ls motor?
is the gss-342 fuel pump by walbro?

do u think this is a good setup?
    jrsc w/ gss-342
aem short ram(will intake system fit with jrsc without cutting)
    fuel pressure and vac gauges
    btc
cartech fmu(i have the b&m fuel regulator does it work the same)
    no injectors
no j&s safegurar(maybe in the futre if i get some $$$)
